Select Parts: Add Parts and Repair Lines

Click the Parts or Split View icon in the Estimate Editor to add parts and labor (repair lines) to the estimate.

  1. In the Parts or Split View tab of Mitchell Cloud Estimating, search for parts in the search bar or select a vehicle area and part (for example, Front Bumper). If your search terms do not match any repair lines, you will see a No results were found message.

    Procedure page (P-page): information is available for some components or categories. The P-page link is below the part.

  2. Select the part or number in the diagram for the part. You can also double-click the part or the number to view the details.
    • To view the diagram larger for more detail, click the arrow icon below the graphic.

  3. Click a labor icon to select the labor operation for the part. This will determine the correct labor times and costs for the labor operation.
    • R&R - Remove/Replace
    • R&I - Remove/Install
    • Repair
    • Blend
    • PDR - Paintless Dent Repair

  4. Select the line for a part to display the part description, labor type, labor units, part type, and more.
    • If there is more than one option for a part (for example, various models or sizes, right side, left side, etc.), you will see View Details on the parts list instead of a price for the part.

    Note for Part Assemblies: To include the labor for a part assembly (Assy), select Remove and Replace (R&R) for the assembly and add the necessary parts to the estimate. The parts you add will have the labor units marked as INC (included) and the price set to zero. You can edit the part as needed.

  5. To modify the refinish labor, type the Total Units for the operation.
  6. Click More and add any additional recommended operations.
  7. Click Add Line to add the line to the estimate or click Select All to add all available lines to the estimate.

The repair line is added to the estimate along with the refinish line and any recommended lines selected.

In the Parts menu, the i Information tab provides links to additional information about parts. The available information includes several categories, such as:

  • Special Cautions
  • Paint/Clear Coat
  • Information Labels
  • A/C Refrigerant Capacities
  • Underhood Dimensions
  • OEM Service Manual - From this link, you can access General Motors service manuals for supported vehicles. Service manuals appear in a new browser window when you click the name of the manual.
  • Procedure Pages
  • Safety Recall

Click each item in the list to view the related details in the right panel. To exit the information tab and return to the list of components, by click another menu item such as Front.

When you are selecting parts to add to the estimate, you may see grayed-out items in the parts list. There are three possible reasons for grayed-out parts that you are not able to click on:

  • Qualified parts filtering
  • The need to see another section for the part
  • The item is serviced with another part or component

Qualified parts filtering automatically filters parts based on vehicle attributes. On occasion, the parts you need for a repair job may be filtered out. You can un-filter or un-qualify the parts to view all parts available for the entire vehicle service. Qualified parts filtering is a default setting.

Unqualified parts are grayed out in the parts list and you are unable to click on the part.

  1. From the Parts page, click Filter next to the search bar.
  2. Click the bar next to Qualified Only to disable qualified parts.

  • The Parts page will reload with the filters disabled. You will be able to select all parts for the vehicle repair, including parts that were previously grayed out.

    • A part can also be grayed out in the parts list if the part is more correctly located and found in a different place in the parts list. This is simply a tip to help the estimator find the item in the parts database. The following screen shows an example of this.

    A part can also be grayed out in the parts list if the part is not sold as a stand-alone part. Instead, the item is included with (or serviced with) some other part or component. The following screen shows an example of this.

    If you have the Refinishing Materials Calculator enabled in Mitchell Cloud Estimating, you can configure your Estimate Profile ton use the Refinishing Materials Calculator (RMC) to calculate paint materials for your estimate.

    Note: The RMC is used to calculate the refinish (paint) costs for the vehicle. The RMC combines average times, average material costs, amount of paint, and related materials. RMC is available for imported and domestic vehicles.

    Enable and set up the refinish materials calculator (RMC)

    You can view, download, print, or send the RMC report to an insurance company. When you send the estimate to an insurance company, the RMC report will be included with the estimate report printout and other relevant reports that are sent to WorkCenter.

    1. Ensure that the RMC Add-On role for Mitchell Cloud Estimating has been activated for the user.
    2. On the Navigation pane in Mitchell Connect, click Settings.
    3. On the Estimating card, click Estimate Profiles.
    4. Open the appropriate profile and click the Calculations tab.
    5. Click Edit .
    6. In the Paint/Material Calculation Rates section, select RMC as the calculation method.
    7. In the Default Paint Type drop-down, select the type of paint.
    8. Click Save at the top right.

    9. From the Job Overview in Mitchell Connect, click the Vehicle card.
    10. In the Color section, select the Paint Code 1 from the drop-down list. (If you selected Two Tone, select Paint Code 2 as well.)
    11. Click Done.

    12. In the estimate, the materials and costs are calculated automatically.

    13. Click RMC in the left navigation panel to view or edit details.
    14. Click Total Materials to view a summary of the calculations and to apply a markup/discount to the paint materials total.

    Note: If there is an error, you will receive a notification indicated by the Caution icon on the RMC icon in the left navigation panel. The error message will include a link to a page to resolve the error.

    1. As you add repair lines to the estimate, the current (in progress) estimate total is updated in the top right corner of Mitchell Cloud Estimating. The total dollar amount recalculates as you add parts and labor to the estimate.
    2. Click on the estimate total (dollar amount) to view the itemized totals breakdown.

    3. The Commit button is next to the estimate total. When you are finished adding repair lines to the estimate, click Commit to submit the estimate.
