Porsche (1987-24)

WARNING:

Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Avoid area near steering wheel and instrument panel even if air bags have deployed. Dual-stage air bag modules may be present that could contain an undeployed stage. When disposing of a deployed dual-stage air bag, always treat it as a live module. See appropriate Air Bag Service & Repair article in Mitchell’s Repair Center TechAdvisor product for more information.

1Replace triggering unit after the system is triggered for the third time.
2Replace roof lining after deployment of head air bag module.
3All air bag sensors in damaged/deformed areas of the vehicle must always be replaced. Otherwise (i.e. even if the vehicle was not crashed), the air bag sensors must be replaced if they show signs of mechanical damage and/or if the air bag control unit detects that the air bag sensor is defective.
4Because it is difficult to visually determine if one or more belt tensioners has been triggered, check the following points: Use Tester to read out the fault memory. Check plug connection on the seat-belt pretensioner for damage. Pull out the belt strap as far as possible and check for wear. Perform a function test on the automatic belt device.
5The steering column must be replaced by a new or replacement unit if one of the following points applies: Impact is felt by occupants. Airbag has been triggered. Visible or perceptible damage to the steering column. Play in steering shaft line. Fire damage. In addition, for vehicles with electrically adjustable steering columns, if the adjustment does not function perfectly. The steering wheel is more than 10 degrees out of line when the marking for steering centre position overlaps.
