WARNING:

Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Avoid area near steering wheel and instrument panel even if air bags have deployed. Dual-stage air bag modules may be present that could contain an undeployed stage. When disposing of a deployed dual-stage air bag, always treat it as a live module. See appropriate Air Bag Service & Repair article in Mitchell’s Repair Center TechAdvisor product for more information.

1Driver/passenger air bags (SRS) and seat belt tensioners indicate clearly when they have deployed and must be replaced.
2When repairing a crashed vehicle, the Volvo policy is to replace those systems that may have been damaged where full function cannot be guaranteed.
3When in use and activated during time of collision.
4All seat belt tensioners, seat belt buckles and end mountings in the rear seat that have been activated must be replaced.

1Pre- and Post-repair scanning is required when working with SRS systems.
2In the event of a knee airbag deployment the dashboard must be inspected for damage. Repairing the dashboard in this area is not permitted. These components must be inspected and/or replaced if deployment occurs. When in doubt, replace.
3When the steering wheel airbag deploys, the clockspring must always be inspected for damage. When in doubt, replace.
4With any airbag deployment, seatbelt pre-tensioners and buckles must be replaced on seats which were occupied at the time of the accident.
5Seat belts, buckles, car seat anchors and other components on seats that were unoccupied at the time of the accident must be visually inspected. When in doubt, replace.
6Volvo vehicles come equipped with whiplash protection. Headrests in seats can shift forward to protect passengers when the vehicle is rear-ended. These components must be inspected and/or replaced if deployment occurs. When in doubt, replace.
7With any airbag deployment, visually inspect seats that were occupied at the time of the accident. When in doubt, replace.
