Use estimate repair lines to capture the work needed to repair the vehicle.
Estimate repair lines are the individual line items in an estimate that describe the parts and labor operations needed to repair a vehicle. Each repair line contains a part, assembly, and/or labor operation that includes a price and/or number of hours. When the estimate is calculated, the repair line information is combined with estimate profile and Procedure Page (P-Page) information to generate the estimate total.
Tip: Gray fields are read-only.
How to
After you add a repair line, you can change the default repair line values.
- Click the field you want to change, and do one of the following:
- If the field includes a list, click the arrow at the end of the field, and select an item.
- If the field is a data entry field, type the information directly into the field.
Note: Gray fields are read-only.
Use this method to change all repair lines except Add-To lines.
- Right-click the estimate line you want to change, and click Modify Child Line.
- Change the repair line information as prompted for the type of line.
You can search in the estimate to find a repair line using the Part Number or Part Description. A dialog box provides the ability to search.
- Use the following key sequence to access the search dialog box: Ctrl-Shift-S.
- Alternatively, when in the estimate, access the Repair menu and select Find Repair Line.
- Enter either the part number or the part description in the field and click Find Next.
- Click Find Prev to move back to the previous repair line that matches your search criteria.
- Click Cancel to cancel or end the search.
Reference – Repair Lines
|
Regular |
When you select a part in the OEM Parts List (CEG), the result is a regular repair line. All of the information is completed for you from the collision estimating database. |
|
ATG |
When you select a part in the ATG Parts List, the result is an ATG repair line. All of the information, except the price, is completed for you from the Assembly Time Guide database. You can change a regular repair line into an ATG repair line by changing the part type from New to Quality Recycled Part. |
|
Add-To |
Add-To repair lines are specific to ATG assemblies. Add-To repair lines can be either a parent or a child line, depending on how it is selected. |
|
Head Note |
Head Notes are items in the Parts List that only include labor operations (no parts). You can add a price to these lines. |
|
Prior Damage |
Repair lines entered on the Related or Unrelated Prior Damage tabs can be billed to the customer as prior damage. |
|
Additions |
When a repair line applies to another repair line, it is an addition. Additions include explanation requests, discounts or markups, betterments, and added labor hours. |
|
Additional Cost/ Materials |
These repair lines represent any costs or materials that are not included in entries from the database. Enter dollar amounts for additional costs and materials. |
|
Additional Operations |
These repair lines represent operations that are not included in entries from the database. Enter the labor units or a dollar amount. |
|
Body Components |
These repair lines represent any parts that are not included in entries from the database. Enter the applicable part information (such as the type and price). |
|
Special/Manual Entries |
Use Special/Manual Entry repair lines to add a repair line where you manually enter all of the applicable repair line fields: labor time, part prices, part number, type, description, and so on. |
|
Auto-generated |
Based on the estimate profile settings and the specific part selected, Mitchell Estimating may automatically generate repair lines for hazardous waste or paint and shop materials. |
|
Frame/Unibody |
Based on the frame repair detail entered in the Frame/Unibody Damage Analysis dialog box, a summary repair line is entered at the top of the estimate. When an appropriate refinish line is detected, the clear coat line is automatically added to the bottom of the repair lines. |
|
Read/Write |
Values that can be edited are displayed against a blue background. |
|
Read Only |
Values that cannot be changed are displayed in white text against a gray background. |
|
You can save an estimate with errors, but you must resolve them before you can calculate and commit the estimate. A required field that is incomplete or in error displays red text and has a red border. When you select a field with an error, a description of the error appears in the status bar with the text, "Repair Line: ERROR." If two repair lines contain errors (for example, Row 1 and Row 2), the status bar identifies the error in Row 1, even though red text in Row 2 indicates an error as well. If you correct Row 2 first, the status bar displays the error in Row 1 until it is corrected. |
|
|
System-entered information that was manually modified is marked with an asterisk (*). An asterisk prints next to the item on the estimate report. When the estimate is calculated, the repair line information is combined with profile and P-Page information to generate the estimate total. Changing from the Mitchell system applied labor units will exclude those repair line/s from automatic overlap calculations. Please make sure you have taken overlap into consideration when entering your labor units amount changes. |
|
Sup |
The supplement number (of the estimate) on which the repair line was added. |
|
Labor Type |
The labor type: B – Body S – Body-structural R – Refinish G – Glass F – Frame M – Mechanical Carbon Fiber Aluminum User Defined 1 User Defined 2 |
|
Labor Op |
The labor operation: RR – Remove/Replace RP – Repair RI – Remove/Install Note: When an R&I labor unit is available, it is used. When it is not, the R&R labor unit is used instead. In this situation, an explanation line is generated and appears in the repair lines and on Estimate report. The explanation line can be modified but not deleted. The Labor Unit field does not indicate an estimators judgment, and the line is included in the R&R overlap calculation. AL – Align OV – Overhaul AI – Access/Inspect CA – Check/Adjust PR – Paintless Repair |
|
Part Description |
The part description. For CEG and ATG lines, this is completed by the system and cannot be changed. The part description must be entered for certain types of repair lines, such as Special/Manual Entry and Explanation Requests. For CEG lines only, if multiple instances have been entered, part quantity appears in the description along with the price, for example: 3@0.71. |
|
Part Type |
The part type: EX – Existing NW – New AM – Aftermarket New (and OE Discount) RM – Remanufactured LK – Quality Recycled Part SL – Sublet RC – Recored RH – Rechromed OS – OE Discount |
|
Part Number |
The part number for CEG, ATG, and Special/Manual Entry repair lines. For OE Discount parts, the number includes the prefix ^^ OES. For AM parts that are not OE Discount parts, the number includes the prefix **. For ATG lines, the part number field displays Quality Recycled Part and cannot be modified. The part number for all other part types, with the exception of Existing, can be modified. |
|
Price |
The part price from the database. Tip: If the part does not have a price, the field is set to N.A., and the estimate cannot be calculated. To calculate the estimate, enter a price (0.00 is acceptable), or enter I (to indicate that the price is included in another repair line). |
|
CC/TT |
This column displays a list containing different refinish options: C – Clear Coat Only B – Both T – Two Tone Only * – None If the data identifies a refinish line as requiring clear coat, the list includes C – Clear Coat Only and * – None only. If the data identifies a refinish line as requiring both Two Tone and Clear Coat, and a Two Tone operation has been added to the repair lines, the list includes all items: C – Clear Coat Only, B – Both, T – Two Tone, and * – None Possible combinations: If a repair line is refinish clear coat, the default value is "C." If it's also Two Tone, and a Two Tone Additional Operation repair line exists, the default is "B." Adding a Two Tone Additional Operation repair line changes a "C" to "B" and a "*" to a "T" (if it wasn't previously set to "*"). Deleting a Two Tone Additional Operation repair line reverses the above. Deleting a system-generated Clear Coat line changes a value of "B" to "T" and a "C" to "*." Adding a clear coat line reverses the above. Explanation lines are added when values change as noted above. Footnotes are added to the repair line section of the estimate report for these types of refinish lines. |
|
Tax |
If the part price is taxable, this field is selected. You can clear the field by clicking it to remove the tax on a part. |
|
Labor Unit |
The labor units in hours (up to one decimal place, such as 1.9). You can also enter I to indicate that the labor is included in another repair line. |
|
CEG Unit |
The labor units from the CEG or ATG (can be used for comparison with Labor Units entered by the estimator). |
Repair line errors appear in red, the message “Repair Line: ERROR” appears in the lower right corner of the status bar, and a description of the first repair line with an error appears in red in the lower left corner of the status bar.
The repair line note remains until that repair line is corrected. For example, if two repair lines contain errors (Row 1 and Row 2 for example), a description of the error in Row 1 appears in the status bar even though the red text in Row 2 identifies an error there as well. If you correct Row 2 before Row 1, the error message for Row 1 remains in the status bar until that repair line is corrected.
You can save an estimate that contains errors, however, they must be resolved before the estimate can be calculated and committed.
