Frame/Unibody Damage Analysis

Use the Frame/Unibody Damage Analysis dialog box to outline the damage present on a vehicle’s frame structure. Frame Damage Analysis is available when a vehicle is defined and you're on the estimate repair lines.

When entering frame damage information, remember the following:

  • Frame damage repair lines always appear at the top of the estimate.
  • Only one frame damage repair line is allowed per supplement.
  • It is possible to generate a negative repair line if the new Amount Applied to Estimate is less than the previous Amount Applied to Estimate.
  • You can change any of the Vehicle - Select fields without affecting existing repair lines, including frame damage lines.
  • You can print a Frame Damage report.

How to

  1. On the Repairs menu, click Frame Damage Analysis. The Frame/Unibody Damage Analysis dialog box appears.

  2. On Frame/Unibody Damage Analysis dialog box, under Dimensional Corrections, enter the labor Hours and Description for each damage condition identified. You can enter up to 10 damage conditions.

    Tip: Total Hours are automatically calculated as you enter labor hours.

  3. In the Setup Time field, enter the number of hours required.

  4. In the Rates fields, enter the frame and set up labor rates.

    By default, the system uses the rates from the estimate profile, but you can change them in this dialog box. The system automatically calculates and displays the totals in the Totals column. The amounts in the Calculated Total and Amount Applied to Estimate should match.

  5. If necessary, change the Amount Applied to Estimate.
  6. In the Damage Description Remarks text box, type any necessary comments.
  7. Do one of the following:
  • Click Apply. A summary Frame/Unibody Damage repair line is added at the beginning of the estimate.
  • Click Print to display a print preview of the Frame Damage report.
  1. Complete the Frame/Unibody Damage Analysis worksheet.
  2. Add any additional repair lines to complete the estimate.

  3. Save the estimate. The PDF is automatically completed and saved to X:\Mitchell\Aces\Image folder (where X is where Mitchell Estimating is installed).

    Note: The PDF file name is: <estid>_<suppno>_<corrno>_FDAR_<vehtype>.pdf.

You can modify frame damage information in the Frame/Unibody Damage Analysis dialog box. Modifying frame damage information on a committed estimate generates a supplement. You can include only one frame damage repair line per supplement, but you can modify the supplement line as many times as needed.

  1. On the Repairs menu, click Frame Damage Analysis. The Frame/Unibody Damage Analysis dialog box appears.

  2. Make the necessary changes, and click Apply.

    For an uncommitted estimate, the original repair line is replaced with a new repair line that reflects the change.  

    For a committed estimate, the change is added as a supplement repair line. The original repair line is not changed.

You can delete Frame Damage repair lines the same way you delete regular repair lines. Before deleting frame damage repair lines, consider the following:

  • You can delete a frame analysis repair line only in an uncommitted estimate.
  • Deleting a frame analysis repair line sets the Amount Applied to Estimate to zero, which is reflected in the Frame Damage Report. Likewise, setting the Amount Applied to Estimate field to zero causes the repair line to have a zero net amount.
  1. Select the repair line to be deleted, and then on the Edit menu, click Delete Current Repair Line.
  2. Click OK at the prompt to delete the repair lines from the estimate. The repair line and any associated lines (auto-include or additional) are deleted.

Hours

Labor hours estimated for each frame damage condition. You can enter up to ten (10) different labor times. This field accepts labor times to the nearest tenth of an hour.

Description

Details of the specific frame damage. You can enter up to ten (10) different descriptions of frame damages identified.

Total Hours

The sum of all labor hours entered. This is a calculated field and is read-only.

Setup Time

The total time allowed to prepare vehicle for frame repair defaults to zero and accepts labor times to the nearest tenth of an hour.

Rates

Both the Labor and Setup rates default to the Frame labor rate as defined in the profile. These rates can be modified.

Totals

The total labor hours and setup hours multiplied by the rates. This is a calculated field and is read-only.

Calculated Total

The sum of total actual and setup labor charges. This is a calculated field and is read-only.

Amount Applied to Estimate

The actual amount to be applied to the estimate. The amount is automatically calculated to match the Calculated Total; however, you can change the amount if necessary.

Damage Description Remarks

Any additional comments that you would like to add to describe the damage.

Apply

Inserts the Frame Damage information as the first repair line in the estimate.

Cancel

Prompts to apply and save changes to the estimate before closing the dialog box.

Print

Opens a print preview of the Frame Damage Report.
