Use the RV database and calculators to calculate labor and materials cost for repair and refinish operations on recreational vehicles (RVs).
The RV database and calculators are a value-added option. To purchase and activate the option, contact your Mitchell representative.Use the Roofing Calculator to select a combination of values that calculate labor and material costs for RV roof repairs.
Use the Siding Calculator to select a combination of values that calculate labor and material costs for RV siding repairs.
Use the Refinish Calculator to select a combination of values that calculate the labor hours for RV refinish repairs.
Use the Decals Calculator to select a combination of values that calculate the labor and material costs for replacing RV decals.
The calculator information used to create repair lines is saved when the lines are added to the estimate. When you access the calculator for a calculator-generated repair line, your original entries appear in the fields.
Note: If you modify the Labor Operation, Price, or Labor Unit fields after a line is added, the calculator information for that line is deleted. The repair line remains, but any related explanation lines are deleted, and calculator functionality is no longer associated with it.
How to
- On the Repair tab, do one of the following:
- To add a line, on the CEG parts list, right-click a part, click View Detail, and then click Select or Repair/Other. If the selected part is eligible for an automatic calculation, the Roofing Calculator appears with default values.
- To modify a line that was added using the calculator, click and tab out of the existing Labor Operation field. Be sure that you don't change the Labor Operation because it will delete your previously entered calculator data. The Roofing Calculator appears with the data entered to create the repair line.
- Select a Repair Type option: Section or Replace.
- In the Roof Surface area, select a Description.
- Select a value for the Width. Standard widths for the selected roof surface material appear in the list.
- Enter a Length, and then click out of the field. This value appears in the Length field for Reinforcement Material.
The roof surface Material, Labor, and Subtotal fields are calculated and entered by the Calculator.
Note: You can modify the values for Material and Labor Unit. On the repair line, the field appears with an asterisk to indicate that it was modified from the system information.
- In the Reinforcement Material area, select a Description. The Length field is read-only and reflects the Length you entered for Roof Surface.
- Select a value for the Width. Standard widths for the selected reinforcement material appear in the list.
The Material, Labor, and Subtotal fields are calculated and entered by the Calculator.
Note: You can modify the value for Material. On the repair line, the Labor Unit appears with an asterisk to indicate that it was modified from the system information.
- Click OK to add the repair line to the estimate and close the calculator.
- On the Repair tab, do one of the following:
- To add a line, on the CEG parts list, right-click a part, click View Detail, and then click Select or Repair/Other. If the selected part is eligible for an automatic calculation, the Siding Calculator appears with default values.
- To modify a line that was added using the calculator, click and tab out of the existing Labor Operation field. Be sure that you don't change the Labor Operation because it will delete your previously entered calculator data.
- Select a Repair Type option: Section or Replace.
- Select a siding material option: Reskin or Other Siding.
If you selected Reskin, do the following:
The Material, Labor, and Subtotal fields are calculated entered by the Calculator
Note: You can modify the values for Material and Labor Unit. On the repair line, the field appears with an asterisk to indicate that it was modified from the system information.
- Select a Reskin Description.
- Select a Reinforcement Material Description.
- Enter values for Length and Height, and then click out of the fields.
- If you selected Other Siding, do the following:
- Select a Description.
Enter values for Length and Height, and then click out of the fields.
The Material, Labor, and Subtotal fields are calculated and entered by the Calculator.
Note: You can modify the values for Material and Labor Unit. On the repair line, the field appears with an asterisk to indicate that it was modified from the system information.
- Click OK to add the repair line to the estimate and close the calculator.
- On the Repair tab, do one of the following:
- To add a line, on the CEG parts list, select a Refinish Headnote. If the selected part is eligible for an automatic calculation, the Refinish Calculator appears with default values.
- To modify a line that was added using the calculator, click and tab out of the existing Labor Operation field. Be sure that you don't change the Labor Operation because it will delete your previously entered calculator data. The Refinish Calculator appears with the data entered to create the repair line.
- Select a refinish option: Automatic or Manual.
- If you selected Automatic, the Single Color fields become active. Do the following:
- Enter a Description.
- Enter values for Length and Height, and then click out of the fields.
The Labor Unit and Subtotal fields are entered by the Calculator.
- If you selected Manual, the Multi-Color fields become active. Do the following:
The Subtotal field is entered by the Calculator.
- To add refinish information for another color, click Add Color. The current information appears in the table below the fields, and the fields are cleared.
- Repeat steps 3a and 3b until you have entered information for all the colors in the refinish area.
- Click OK to add the repair line to the estimate and close the calculator.
- On the Repair tab, do one of the following:
- To add a line, on the CEG parts list, in the Stripe and Decals folder, select a decal part. The Decals Calculator appears with default values.
- To modify a line that was added using the calculator, click and tab out of the existing Labor Operation field. Be sure that you don't change the Labor Operation because it will delete your previously entered calculator data. The Decals Calculator appears with the data entered to create the repair line.
- If you are applying OEM decals, in the OEM section, do the following:
- Select a Material and Quantity.
- Enter values for Length, Height, and Cost, and then click out of the fields.
The Labor Unit and Subtotal fields are entered by the Calculator.
- If you are applying custom decals, in the Custom section, do the following:
- Select the Lettering Same Height check box as appropriate.
- Enter values for Quantity, number of Colors, Length, and Height, and then click out of the fields.
The Cost, Labor Unit, and Subtotal fields are entered by the Calculator.
- If the custom decals have text, in the Text section, do the following:
- Select a Lettering Type and Font Size, and then enter a value for Height.
- In the Message field, type the custom decal text.
- If the custom decal requires Specialty Work, do the following:
- Enter a Custom Layout Cost.
- If needed, select the Digital Printing Percent Multiplier check box, and enter a cost.
- If needed, select the Doming (#-D) Percent Multiplier check box, and enter a cost.
Note: Doming is a step in the decal or lettering process that creates a raised effect.
- Click OK to add the repair line to the estimate and close the calculator.

Add Color | Click this button to add the current multi-color information to the table. You can add more colors in the Multi-Color fields. This button is inactive until values are entered in the Multi-Color Description and Labor Unit fields. |

Materials | Select OEM Decal. |
Quantity | Enter a value (1–12) for the number of decals to be applied. The default is one. |
Length (in) | Enter a value (in inches) for the length of the decal. The value must be a number greater than or equal to zero. The default is zero. |
Height (in) | Enter a value (in inches) for the height of the decal. The value must be a number greater than or equal to zero. The default is zero. |
Cost | Enter a material unit cost for the decal. The value must be a number greater than or equal to zero. The default is zero. |

Lettering Same Height | Select this check box to indicate that the custom decal lettering is to be all the same height. The check box is not selected by default. |
Decals |

Materials | Select Vinyl or Other. The default is Vinyl. |
Quantity | Enter a value (1–12) for the number of custom decals to be applied. The default is one. |
Colors | Enter a value for the number of colors (1–6) in the custom decals. The default is one. |
Length (in) | Enter a value (in inches) for the length of the decal. The value must be a number greater than or equal to zero. The default is zero. |
Height (in) | Enter a value (in inches) for the height of the decal. The value must be a number greater than or equal to zero. The default is zero. |
Cost | This read-only field is entered by the Calculator. It identifies the material cost per custom decal to be applied. |

Text | This section allows you to specify the text properties for the custom decals. |
Lettering Type | Select Standard or Italic. The default is Standard. |
Font Size | Select Regular or Other. The default is Regular. |
Height (in) | Enter a value (in inches) for the height of the custom decal text. The value must be a number greater than or equal to zero. The default is zero. |
Message | Enter the custom decal text. The default is a blank field. |
Specialty Work | Specify values for any specialty work. |
Custom Layout Cost | Enter a value for the cost of custom layout work for the decal. The value must be a number greater than or equal to zero. The default is zero. |
Digital Printing Percent Multiplier check box and list | Select this check box and then select a value (10, 15, 20...100) for the cost of digital printing. The check box is not selected by default. The default is 10. |
Doming (#-D) Percent Multiplier check box and list | Select this check box and then select a value (100, 150, 200...550) for the cost of doming. The check box is not selected by default. The default is 100. Note: Doming is a step in the decal or lettering process that creates a raised effect. |
