Write an Estimate for an RV (Recreational Vehicle)
Use the RVs (Recreational Vehicles) database to write a repair estimate for an RV.
The RV database offers CEG information for specific models. A Generic Service is also included so you can create a repair estimate for any make and model.
The RV database and calculators are a value-added option. To purchase and activate the option, contact your Mitchell representative. How to
Write an RV estimate just as you would an automobile estimate. When you identify the RV, the system automatically displays the RV CEG database in the repair lines.
The following procedure provides an overview for creating an RV estimate using the Assisted method.
- Start a new estimate.
- Enter the necessary Administrative Information for the estimate.
If your company uses the claim number as the estimate ID, the Claim Number field on the General tab must be completed.
- Click the Vehicle tab, and in the Selection Method area, click Assisted.
- In Type, select RV Class A or RV Class C.
- Select a Year, Make, and Model, and enter a Camper/Coach Description if needed.
Note: If there is no service for the selected RV, a Generic Service is used.
- Click the Repair tab. Mitchell Estimating reads the vehicle data from the Collision Estimating Database for RVs and displays the information in the Parts List.
- Scroll down the Parts List, and double-click the part group you need. The part list expands.
- Double-click the part you want to add to the repair lines.
Note: The repair line has an error condition because the price is not available.
- In the Price field, enter the price for the part. An asterisk appears after the price to show that the price is the estimator’s judgment.
Note: To calculate labor and material cost for repair and refinish operations on RVs, see RV and Specialty Calculators.
- From the Parts List, select the remaining parts that apply to this estimate.
- When you complete the estimate, calculate
and save
it.
