You can initiate host communications as follows:
- When you start Mitchell Estimating
- From the Mitchell Estimating toolbar
- From the Mitchell Estimating Utilities menu
How to
- On the System Info menu, click Configuration, point to Configure Communications, and then click Configure Host Transactions.
- On the Host Transaction dialog box, under Startup Request, select the Display Host Transaction Message a Startup check box. The next time you start Mitchell Estimating, a message appears to begin a host session.
- Close any open estimates.
- On the toolbar, click the Call Host button.
- If your Host Transactions are configured to upload selected files, the Upload dialog box appears. Select the estimates you want to upload, and click OK.
- If your Host Transactions are configured to automatically upload all files (without selecting specific files), the upload begins.
- Close any open estimates.
- On the Utilities menu, point to Host Communications, and click Initiate Host Transactions.

On the Host Communications dialog box, under Request Type, select the type of host transaction you want: Retrieve Matrices, Retrieve Assignments/Dispatches, Upload Estimates, Retrieve Estimates, Retrieve Preloads. Files related to the request type you selected appear in the right panel.
Note: Depending on your installation, you may not see all of the Request Types listed here. For more information about the individual request types, see Types of Host Communication Requests.
- Click Call Host.
