Custom Lists of Parts & Labor (Long Expansions)

1. On the System Info menu, click Long Expansions.

2. On the Maintain Long Expansion Groups dialog box, click New or Copy.

   

3. On the Create Long Expansion Group dialog box, in the Enter Group Name box, type a name for the group.

   Tip: This is the name for the group of custom lists, so the name should be comprehensive.

   

4. Click OK.

5. On the Modify Long Expansion Group dialog box, click New.

   

6. On New Long Expansion Name dialog box, in the Enter Long Expansion Name box, type a name for the long expansion list.

   Tip: This is the name for the custom list and should be specific to the repair lines you want to include.

   

7. Click OK.

8. On the Modify Long Expansion Group dialog box, to add repair items to the new long expansion list, click Modify. A Repair tab with Ref Sheet categories appears.

   

9. Add repair lines to this long expansion list.

   

10. On the File menu, click Save, and then click Yes at the prompt to save changes.

2. Select the name of the group you want to change, and click Modify. The Modify Long Expansion Groups dialog box appears.
3. Under Long Expansions, select the long expansion you want to change, and click Modify. A Repair tab for the Ref Sheet appears with its categories for Additional Costs and Materials, Additional Operations, Body Components, and Special/Manual Entry. The previously entered repair lines are available.
4. Add, modify, delete repair lines as you would in a regular estimate until you have modified this long expansion as needed.
5. On the File menu, click Save. On the File menu again, click Close. The Maintain Long Expansion Group dialog box appears.

2. Select the name of the group you want to delete, and click Delete.
3. Click OK at the confirmation message.

2. Select the groups you want to merge.

• To select all long expansion groups listed, click Select All.
• To clear selected long expansion groups, click Deselect All.

2. Click Merge (select at least two groups).
3. On the Create Long Expansion Group dialog box, in the Enter Group Name field, type a unique name for the merged group.
4. Click OK.

5. Click OK at the confirmation message. (Click Cancel to abandon the merge function.)

   The newly merged Long Expansion is saved and available for use. This activity is captured on the Long Expansion Activity Log.

You can import long expansion groups (including the Mitchell group) without exiting Mitchell Estimating or overwriting existing groups. You can also import groups while in an estimate. See Use Long Expansions in an Estimate.

Administrator rights are required.

Note: In a multiuser system, all other users must be logged off Mitchell Estimating.

2. Select the Long Expansion groups you want to import, and click Import. The Long Expansion Group Import dialog box appears. The default import directory is X:\Mitchell\aces\Longexp\Import (or the last directory used for import or export).

• If needed, browse to the directory where the groups to be imported are located.

• If a group name exists in the Import directory, the Long Expansion Group Import Conflict dialog box appears. Do one of the following:

3. When notified that the groups successfully imported, click OK to view the log.

• If an import fails, click Retry or Cancel. You can find the specific reason for the failure in the log.

You can export long expansion groups (including the Mitchell group) without exiting Mitchell Estimating or overwriting existing groups. You can also export groups while in an estimate. See Use Long Expansions in an Estimate.

Long Expansion Groups are attached to system profiles on the Adjust/Long Exp tab. The default long expansion group, Standard, is attached to the default system profile, Mitchell. You can select a different long expansion group in the estimate profile.

The long expansion group selected in an estimate profile is exported and imported with the estimate. It does not need to be reattached when the estimate is re-imported.

Only one long expansion group can be attached to a single profile, but they can be modified or deleted at any time. Any repair lines created using long expansions that are changed or deleted later remain unchanged.

The original profile is stored with each estimate. To access a long expansion group in an estimate created in an earlier version of Mitchell Estimating, open the profile while in the estimate, and attach the long expansion group in the estimate profile.
