Use Betterment to charge the customer for labor and/or parts that improve the damaged part beyond pre-accident condition.
Betterment lines appear below the original repair line. A betterment that exceeds the total of the associated repair line is set to $0.00. You can set a preference for the betterment to be calculated using either a dollar amount or a percentage.
Note: Tax is applied if the betterment is entered as a percentage and a Tax Rate is set on the profile.
Labor betterment applies to the labor units for CEG parts, head notes, body components, auto-include repair lines, special/manua entryl repair lines, and additional operations.
Part betterment applies to the part price. If any adjustments are active, betterment is calculated using the following formula:
$Price x adjustment x tax (if applicable) % of betterment

Note: The dollar amount of betterment does not include betterment on tax. This is calculated as a total and is included in the betterment amount in the estimate totals.
Use Betterment Credit to credit all betterment items in the estimate back to the insured.
How to
Include Betterment
- Do one of the following:
- In
the Enter Percent (%) field, type the betterment
percentage.
- If the item is taxable, select the Taxable check box to apply the betterment percentage to the total part price, including tax.
- In the Enter Amount field, type the betterment dollar amount.
- Click OK.
The betterment line is added below the selected repair line. The betterment value (dollar or percentage) appears in the Description, and the dollar amount appears in the Price field. If you selected the Taxable check box, a check mark appears in the Tax field.
